The nonstop is not running at the moment
We book this route all year. What moves with the season is the nonstop: Air Canada flies it Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, Oct, Nov and Dec, and not outside that window.

We sell Montreal to Delhi all year. Only the nonstop is seasonal, and we set that expectation in the first minute of the call, because nothing sours a booking faster than a customer finding out halfway through that the flight they read about does not exist on their dates.
After that it is ordinary work. The in-season detail worth knowing is the shape of the frequency: three a week as a base, stepping up toward seven around the 4 December to 8 January window. That is the peak inside the peak, on a route with one aircraft type and no second carrier to absorb it, and it fills. If your travel falls there, early is not a slogan, it is the whole strategy.
Out of season we quote the one-stop as its own product rather than as a consolation prize. Toronto is usually cheapest and simplest. Paris or London is often more comfortable and sometimes better timed out of Montreal, and we will say which without being asked.
The practical note from doing this weekly: keep it on one ticket, whichever build you end up on. Montreal winters produce delays. A delay on one ticket gets rebooked. A delay across two tickets gets paid for twice.

The current season ended on 28 April and the nonstop is scheduled to resume on 25 October. Air Canada also confirmed in November 2025 that it was dropping the planned summer 2026 extension, which would have run from 1 May to 24 October, and moving that capacity through its Toronto hub instead. Baggage
Air Canada, which operates the seasonal nonstop and most of the Toronto connections: baggage is fare-tiered on India routes. Basic includes no checked bag, so you pay for the first. Standard and Flex include one at 23kg. Latitude and Comfort include two at 23kg. Carry-on is one bag at 55 by 40 by 23 centimetres plus a personal item.
Air India, if we route you through Toronto on its metal instead: one bag at 23kg on Economy Value, two at 23kg on Classic and Flex, plus an 8kg cabin bag.

When to book
Montreal has an awkward overlap the other Canadian cities do not. Summer is one of the priciest windows on the corridor and it is exactly when the nonstop is not flying, so summer travellers are connecting no matter what they pay.
If you want the nonstop you are shopping inside the late October to late April window. February and March are the soft months in season. August and September are the soft months out of it.
The season, and what it does not mean

The seasonality is deliberate. In November 2025 Air Canada confirmed it was cancelling the planned summer 2026 extension, which would have run the route from May through late October, and moving that capacity through Toronto instead.
In winter we look at the nonstop first. In summer we build the trip with one connection, through Toronto or through a European gateway, and quote it as its own product.
One ticket, whichever way it is built
Montreal winters produce delays, and a connecting itinerary out of Montreal in January is not a theoretical risk. On a single ticket, a delay out of Trudeau that costs you the long-haul is the airline’s problem and it rebooks you. On two separate bookings it is yours, and you buy the second fare again.
That is also why the allowance question follows the ticket rather than the flight. One ticket carries one baggage allowance from Montreal through to Delhi. A split booking that looks cheaper on screen usually is not, and the day it goes wrong it never is.
