Los Angeles to Bangalore is a one stop route. No airline has ever flown it nonstop, so itineraries run roughly twenty to twenty six hours through Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Frankfurt. Farearc books this route on consolidator fares, US and Canada to India. Message us on WhatsApp, call 1-833-330-0574, or ask for a callback. Someone answers 24/7, whatever your time zone. This is one of the longest trips we sell, and the thing that decides how it goes is the layover, not the fare. A twenty hour itinerary with a fifty minute connection and a twenty four hour itinerary with a three hour break are not the same product, and only one of them survives a late departure out of Los Angeles. Two to three hours at Doha or Abu Dhabi, and we explain why rather than quietly quoting the longer option.
We ask about the layover the other way too. Some itineraries pair the long leg with an eight or ten hour wait, which sounds miserable and occasionally is not. For a family with young children, a long break with a day room and a shower beats a rushed transfer. It depends on the traveler, which is why we ask who is flying before we recommend a routing.
One note specific to Bangalore. A lot of these bookings are made by people working in technology, and their dates move: a project slips, a visa appointment lands late. A consolidator fare is cheaper because its change rules are stricter, so we ask directly whether the dates are firm. If not, we quote a fare with workable change rules alongside the cheapest one. Far less than rebooking a twenty four hour itinerary at short notice.
Which connection
No carrier has ever operated Los Angeles to Bangalore nonstop, and none is likely to soon. This is one of the longest city pairs between the US and India, so every itinerary connects and the comparison is hub against hub.
Doha on Qatar or Abu Dhabi on Etihad. Those are the two we book, because both run clean transfers with reasonable layover options. Los Angeles to Doha is about fourteen to fifteen hours, Doha to Bangalore roughly four and a quarter, so with a layover of two to ten hours the total lands anywhere from twenty to twenty six. Dubai on Emirates is the third choice. Frankfurt on Lufthansa is the European alternative.
One more option people ask about: a domestic hop to San Francisco to pick up a nonstop to Bangalore. That nonstop ended in February 2026, so it is no longer a route to plan around, and any San Francisco itinerary now connects too.
This is a full day of travel however you build it. The goal is not the fastest possible itinerary. It is the one that leaves you able to function when you land.
Baggage
All four realistic carriers use a fare tier system, and the cheapest tier is always where the allowance goes.
Qatar Airways: Americas piece concept, so Economy Lite carries one bag of 23kg and Classic, Convenience and Comfort carry two.
Emirates: Americas piece concept, with Special and Saver carrying one bag of 23kg and Flex and Flex Plus carrying two.
Etihad: two bags of 23kg as standard in economy on US routes, with Basic Economy carrying no free checked bag.
Air India, on codeshare or connecting itineraries: one bag of 23kg on Value fares, two on Classic and Flex, cabin 8kg.
Cabin allowance across these carriers is generally 7 to 8kg plus a personal item. On a twenty plus hour trip, being made to check a heavy cabin bag at the gate is a bad start.
When to book
Peak is Diwali in October or November, mid December to early January, and the June to August school break. Late January through March is soft, and September through early November is soft outside the Diwali run up.
Because the trip is long and every itinerary connects, booking early mainly buys a better connection. The ones with a two or three hour layover and a civilised arrival time go before the nine hour wait or the fifty minute dash. If your dates flex, give us the range: on a twenty four hour itinerary a day either side changes the whole shape of the trip.
A full day of travel, planned properly
Los Angeles to Bangalore is among the longest journeys between the US and India. There is no nonstop, there never has been, and with a connection the trip runs from about twenty hours at best to twenty six with a long layover. That is a day of your life, so it is worth planning as one rather than treating it as a fare to minimise.
Three things make the difference between arriving functional and arriving wrecked. Which leg carries the distance: on a Doha or Abu Dhabi routing, most of it sits in the first flight, which is easier for sleeping. The layover. And arrival time in Bangalore, because many Gulf connections land in the small hours, and whether someone is collecting you at two in the morning or ten is a real consideration for the people at the other end.
None of these show up in a price comparison.
Layovers, in both directions
The tempting mistake is to buy the shortest connection available. On a trip this long, that is the itinerary most likely to fail, because it assumes an on time departure from Los Angeles and a fast transfer at a large hub. We aim for two to three hours, and we say why rather than quietly quoting a longer trip.
The opposite mistake is assuming a long layover is always bad. For a family with young children, an eight hour break at Doha or Dubai with a day room, a shower and a proper meal can be significantly better than a ninety minute sprint with two tired kids and hand baggage. For a solo traveler on a tight week, it is dead time and the shorter connection is right.
So we ask who is flying before we recommend a hub. The same itinerary can be the best option for one traveler and the worst for another, and the fare will not tell you which.
Dates that move, and fares that do not
A good share of Los Angeles to Bangalore travel is tied to work: a project timeline, an office visit, a visa appointment, a term start. Those dates move more often than holiday dates do, and that changes which fare you should be buying.
We sell consolidator fares, contracted with airlines rather than bought from a public site. Usually meaningfully cheaper on a route this long, and the trade is stricter rules: a change means an airline penalty plus any fare difference, and a cancellation returns less.
If your dates are firm, that trade is almost always worth taking. If they are not, we will price a more flexible fare alongside the cheapest one. On a twenty four hour itinerary booked at short notice, the flexible fare is frequently the cheaper outcome.
Send your dates, passengers, bag count and any assistance needs on WhatsApp, call 1-833-330-0574 from the US or Canada, or reach our India desk on +91 98885 55625. Farearc is founder led by Anuj Kaushik, and someone answers 24/7, whatever your time zone.
Questions people actually ask
Is there any nonstop from Los Angeles to Bangalore?
No, and there never has been on this city pair. Every itinerary connects, most commonly at Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Frankfurt, and total travel time runs roughly twenty to twenty six hours depending on the hub and the layover. Air India's Los Angeles nonstop goes to Delhi, not Bangalore, and the San Francisco to Bangalore nonstop that used to exist ended in February 2026, so that is no longer a workaround.
Which hub gives the shortest total time?
Doha on Qatar Airways is usually the quickest realistic option, with Los Angeles to Doha around fourteen to fifteen hours and Doha to Bangalore about four and a quarter. Abu Dhabi on Etihad is close behind. The spread between the sensible options is a few hours on a journey of a full day, which is why we would not choose on total time alone. Layover quality and arrival time matter more to how the trip actually feels.
Should I connect through San Francisco instead?
There is no longer much reason to. Air India's San Francisco to Bangalore nonstop ended in February 2026, so a San Francisco itinerary now connects as well, and you would have added a domestic flight to reach it. If a specific fare or schedule makes it worth pricing, we will look, but for most Los Angeles travelers a single connection through Doha, Abu Dhabi or Dubai is the simpler and usually faster trip.
How long should my layover be?
Two to three hours is our target, and we will explain when we think a longer one is better. A fifty minute connection on a twenty hour trip is an exposure you carry from the moment you leave Los Angeles. A long layover is not automatically bad either: with young children, an eight hour break with a day room can be much kinder than a rushed transfer.
My dates might move. What should I book?
Tell us that before we issue. A consolidator fare is cheaper because its change rules are stricter, so a date change costs an airline penalty plus any fare difference and a cancellation returns less. On this route, where a lot of travel is tied to work projects and visa appointments, we routinely quote a more flexible fare alongside the cheapest one so you can see what the flexibility costs. It is usually less than rebooking a twenty four hour itinerary at short notice.
