Vancouver is the easiest Canadian city to fly to Delhi from and the hardest one to improvise in. Easy, because two carriers fly it nonstop and you rarely need a connection at all. Hard, because when the nonstop does not work on your dates the fallbacks are worse than they are from Toronto. The Gulf carriers do not come to Vancouver, so Doha or Dubai starts with a domestic hop and becomes a two-stop day.

Air Canada’s service here launched in October 2016 as a seasonal three times weekly operation, and we have not been able to confirm from a live Air Canada schedule page whether it has since gone year round. The thing that costs people money here is Air Canada’s fare ladder. Basic prices beautifully and includes no checked bag. Vancouver to Delhi is one of the few Canada to India pairs with genuine nonstop choice. Air India has flown it since late October 2020, Air Canada since 20 October 2016, and when both schedules are running you pick a carrier rather than take what is left. Westbound is about fourteen and a half to fifteen hours across 11,130 kilometres. Eastbound is usually quicker.

What a one-stop from Vancouver means is shaped by the airport. Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways do not serve Vancouver at all. They fly to Toronto and Montreal. A Gulf routing out of Vancouver needs a domestic leg first, which makes it two stops. When the nonstop does not suit, the sensible alternatives run through Toronto or a European gateway.
Baggage
Air India. Economy runs on the piece concept for Canada to India: two checked bags at 23kg each on Classic and Flex, one at 23kg on Economy Value, plus a cabin bag and a personal item. Cabin weight is enforced tightly at Indian airports, so the heavy things belong in the hold.
Air Canada. Fare class decides everything. Basic includes no checked bag and you pay for the first at the airport. Standard and Flex include one at 23kg. Premium Economy, Latitude and Comfort include two.

When to book
Three peaks here rather than two. Diwali in October or November, the November to February wedding season, and June to August when families travel with school-age children.
September has repeatedly come in as the cheapest month on Vancouver to Delhi, and the wider stretch from July to mid-November, Diwali aside, runs lighter than the winter crunch. If your trip is tied to a wedding, book early and give us the event date so we can build the return around it.
What the Vancouver to Delhi nonstop is like
Vancouver sits closer to Delhi than any other major Canadian city, 11,130 kilometres, which puts the westbound flight at about fourteen and a half to fifteen hours and the return slightly under that. A long day, but one flight rather than two, and on this corridor that is worth a great deal.
Two carriers have flown it. Air India added Delhi to Vancouver in late October 2020. Air Canada launched its own 787-9 service on 20 October 2016, seasonal at three times weekly to begin with. When both are running you get a real choice: different cabins, different fare structures, different baggage rules.
What we will not do is print a frequency claim and leave it there. Canada and US routes to India have seen suspensions, restorations and frequency changes throughout 2026. So this page describes the route as nonstop-capable, and the live check happens when you contact us. Smaller promise than most route pages make, and one we can keep.
What happens when the nonstop does not fit your dates
Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways all serve Canada, and all of them serve Toronto or Montreal rather than Vancouver. The tidy one-stop through Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Doha that a Toronto passenger can book is not available to you as a one-stop. It becomes a domestic leg plus a Gulf connection, which is two stops and a very long day.
So when the nonstop is not right, we build through Toronto, where both Air India and Air Canada fly nonstop to Delhi, or through a European gateway. Either way we keep it on one ticket. A connection on one ticket is the airline’s responsibility if it slips. A connection assembled from two separate bookings is yours, and the money saved evaporates the first time weather closes a runway.
