Nothing flies nonstop into Amritsar from outside India. Amritsar’s international links are Dubai and Sharjah, Doha, Birmingham, London Gatwick, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok. None of them touch North America.
Air India is the routing that works. It flies Vancouver to Delhi nonstop and operates the Delhi to Amritsar sector itself, roughly ten departures a day, so the whole trip sits on one ticket with one baggage allowance and one airline answerable if a connection slips. The domestic leg is an hour and five minutes in the air. Add a Delhi layover of two to five hours and you are at eighteen to twenty one hours gate to gate.
Air Canada also flies Vancouver to Delhi nonstop and is worth pricing if you have status or points, but it has no aircraft of its own onward to Amritsar, so that build needs an interline or a separate domestic ticket at Delhi. Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways all skip Vancouver, so Dubai or Doha would mean a domestic Canadian leg first and two stops in total.
One thing about the Delhi connection
Air India’s Easy Connect at Amritsar, live since 28 July 2026, applies in the outbound direction only. Flying from Amritsar through Delhi to Vancouver, you clear immigration and check your bags through at Amritsar itself, so Delhi is a straight transit. Coming the other way, Vancouver into Amritsar via Delhi, the standard Delhi transit and baggage recheck still applies. Air India has said the inbound version is coming. Until it is running, we will keep telling you to plan for the recheck.

Air India. Economy on Canada to India runs on the piece concept: two checked bags at 23kg each on Classic and Flex, one on Economy Value, plus a cabin bag and a personal item.
Booking the whole trip on one Air India ticket is what keeps that international allowance on the domestic hop. Split the ticket and the Amritsar leg falls back to a smaller domestic allowance, and you will be repacking on the floor at Delhi.
Air Canada, relevant only to the Vancouver to Delhi portion: none on Basic, one bag at 23kg on Standard and Flex, two on Premium Economy, Latitude and Comfort.
When to book
Mid-November through February is the crunch: Punjab wedding season, with Diwali stacked on the front of it and the BC school break sitting in the middle. Summer, June to August, is the second peak as families travel with children out of school.
Mid-July to mid-November, Diwali aside, is when the wedding trade goes quiet, and that stretch runs cheaper with easier Delhi connections. August and September in particular give you more choice on the Amritsar hop, which is the part of the itinerary that runs out first in season.
Why Delhi is the only sensible connection from Vancouver

Why the ticket structure matters more than the fare
People do not fly this route light. They fly it with gifts, sweets, wedding outfits and things that were asked for on the phone six months ago.
On a single Air India ticket, the international allowance carries onto the Delhi to Amritsar leg and one airline is responsible from Vancouver to the end. Split the booking and the domestic flight applies its own, smaller allowance, which is how people end up rearranging suitcases on a terminal floor. Split it and a missed connection is a fare you buy again.
Wedding season and when to start looking
